Her book discusses how alcohol is sold to women to help relieve the stress of trying to be beautiful, smart, financially successful, and a wonderful mother. We need to look at the root of our pain to manage addictions. It’s the human nature to look outside of ourselves to serve the nature of being alive. This book shows a different way to handle recovery beyond AA.

Dr. amina wadud is a retired professor of Islamic Studies and Visiting Researcher at the Starr King School for the Ministry, Berkeley California. She taught Islam or held postings at universities in the United States, Australia, Malaysia, and currently in Indonesia.  Her background includes a Masters and PhD from University of Michigan and advanced Arabic Studies from the American University in Cairo.
