Ever since the musical “Hair” debuted on Broadway in 1968, people have been talking – and singing – about the Age of Aquarius. From an epochal standpoint, it’s definitely a major shift and though the transition towards this age is certainly upon us, how long we will be betwixt and between depends on what system(s) you’re following.
Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac, bookended by Capricorn and Pisces. Latin for “water carrier,” Aquarius is one of the three air signs. In tropical astrology, the Sun passes through Aquarius from approximately 20 January to 19 February.
When the planet Uranus was discovered in 1781, astrologers assigned it to Aquarius, but the ancients extended Saturn’s rulership of Capricorn to encompass Aquarius as well.
This cycle we will explore the meanings and contradictions of Aquarius, significant transits of the past few years and what’s to come. Indeed, the Age of Aquarius is something to sing about.
