Diane Birch plays tracks from her first two albums, as well as some well-loved covers and new material from her forthcoming release.
Diane Birch’s musical influences are as varied and rich as her own international upbringing—from her childhood as a preacher’s daughter in Zimbabwe and South Africa, to her wedding dress and black-lipstick days as a Goth teen in Portland, to her late teens in L.A. where she paid her musical dues playing piano and singing covers in fancy hotels.
With two critically acclaimed albums on her discography (Bible Belt and Speak A Little Louder), and one independently released EP (Nous), Birch has earned herself a dedicated fan base across the globe, as well as the respect of a wide range of musicians including Prince, Mark Ronson, Daryl Hall, Dave Stewart, Questlove, Elvis Costello, Stevie Wonder and more.
Since the release of the Nous EP, Birch has released 2 singles Nite Time Talking and The End, each accompanied by short films shot on Super8 film by the filmmaker Meshakai Wolf. The End was recently featured in the season finale of the Fox TV Series Lucifer and another single, In It for the Race produced by Shawn Lee of Young Gun Silver Fox, followed in 2018.
Harkening back to the West Coast AM radio feel of her first album, Diane released a new single entitled Wind Machine in October of 2019. The track was produced by industry veteran Paul Stacy, who is also producing Birch’s third, as yet untitled, album. The new album was recorded in Bryan Ferry’s London studio and in Monnow Valley Studios in Wales and is set to be released in the fall of 2021.
