In the canon of these teachings, there’s something for everyone and a million ways to practice. In the West, we’re very ambitious and concerned with our personal progress. You can use this approach, too. Genuine Seva (selfless service) will elevate you to infinity.
Practicing during the hours of 2:30 to about 5:30 or 6 is especially potent (good to know if you’re a night owl). It’s true that the more you practice over the years, the deeper your sleep will become so you’ll most likely need less sleep (although everyone is different).
Recapitulation is a mind training practice. Have you ever laid awake at night wishing you had done or said something different? When you make a mistake, don’t then punish yourself for it by reviewing or obsessing over it. This only deepens the pattern of the mistake in your subconscious. Instead, use recapitulation to clean up the subconscious and change the energy and outcome of the situation. In this way, we can clean up, clean out and optimize the subconscious mind, which will allow us to age with a healthy and agile brain.
