This Week in Astrology: Lunar New Year Aquarius & the Rat

The Sun moves into Aquarius on Tuesday, then squares the sign’s ruler Uranus on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Moon trolls the Capricorn stellium as it advances to meet up with the Sun in a New Aquarius Moon on Friday. Aquarius calls up the rebel in us, shaking off (some of) the restrictions felt in Capricorn and inviting imagination and invention. With the New Moon, the new Sign, the New Year & the New Decade… you can activate a New You!

The New Moon signals the start of the Lunar New Year – the year of the Metal Rat, that heralds prosperity, success, luck and true love. The Rat represents the beginning of a new day as it starts the 12-year animal zodiac cycle all over again. It’s, therefore, a good year to begin a new venture or renew your efforts on a longstanding one.

With a nod to some Kundalini similarities, maximize the benefits of the year by properly observing the New Year’s Spring Festival: From January 25 (24th for some) to February 4, no cutting of hair, no negative words – avoid crying and outbursts of anger and resolve all issues peacefully. You can clean in advance of the holiday, but no cleaning or throwing things away during this timeframe as it sweeps away your good luck.
