sodarshan chakra KRIYA
| Â |
| Of all the 20 types of yoga, including Kundalini Yoga, Sodarshan Chakra Kriya is the highest kriya. This meditation cuts all darkness. It will give you a new start. It is the simplest kriya, but at the same time the hardest. It cuts through all barriers of the neurotic or psychotic inside-nature.” |
When a person is in a very severe mental state, solutions imposed from the outside fail. The pressure must be generated from within. This kriya sparks the Kundalini energy to provide the necessary vitality and intuition to battle a heavy subconscious mind.
“Sodarshan” means the wheel of good vision. In sacred iconography, the Sodarshan Chakra is the spinning disc of light seen spinning around the index finger of Lord Vishnu (the deity of preservation and transformation). It represents cutting through illusion, severing the ego, and circulating prana directly between the lunar (left nostril) and solar (right nostril) channels.
Left Nostril Inhalation: Activates the right hemisphere of the brain, which governs your creative, artistic, calm, and deeply meditative states.
The Number 16: The number 16 is systematically tied to the Ajna Chakra (Third Eye). Mentally reciting the Gurmantra 16 times stimulates the seat of intuition and spiritual vision.
The 48 Navel Pumps: Physically, pumping the solar plexus stimulates the vagus nerve, which runs directly between your gut brain and head brain. This releases trapped emotional energy – like ancestral fear, anger, and anxiety – stored within the diaphragm. It forces highly oxygenated blood to discharge subconscious toxins.
This ancient practice is described in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib:
“The breath is drawn in through the left nostril, it is held in the central channel of the Sushmanaa, and exhaled through the right nostril, repeating the Divine Name sixteen times. I am powerless, my power has been broken. My unstable mind has been stabilised…”
